The Italian cyclist of the team Jayco AlUla Alessandro De Marchi ha cattle the second stage of the Tour of the Alps in 2024in Stans (Switzerland), this Tuesday, while the Norwegian runner of the team INEOS Grenadiers Tobias Foss continue as leader. De Marchi has completed the day’s escape alone, in which he has carried out with four other men, and has been awarded a brilliant victory, in a day that has not brought about important changes in the general classification and in which Joan Bou, from Euskaltel-Euskadi, was fifth.

The breakaway has formed in the first section of the stage. 33 kilometers from the finish line, the Austrian Patrick Gamper (Bora Hansgrohe) attacked, but was caught by De Marchi and the Swiss Simon Pellaud (Tudor); De Marchi went for the victory, and achieved it in an outstanding way, with 1:20 over Gamper and 1:24 over Pellaud. The group led by leader Foss, with Bou in the leading positions, has reached 1:47.

In the general classification, Tobias Foss maintains a four-second advantage over the Australian Chris Harper, from Jayco, and six over the Colombian Esteban Chaves, from EF Education.

The third stage is scheduled for this Wednesday, starting and finishing in Schwaz (Austria) and a route of 124.8 kilometers. The hardness of the day is concentrated in the last 35, with the ascents to the Weerberg and the Pillberg, both 2nd category; both ports are ascended twice.
