This Sunday, at Estádio da Luz, Benfica calmly beat Moreirense 3-0, in the 29th round of the Portuguese Championship. The home team scored two goals in the first half and, in the second half, Benjamín Rollheiser, formerly of River Plate, scored his first goal with the Portuguese club’s shirt.
Now, Benfica has 70 points and occupies second place in the national tournament. Sporting, leader with 74 units, is still playing in this round. Moreirense, with 43 points, is in sixth place.
For the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Europa League, Benfica returns to the pitch, this Thursday, at 4pm (Brasília time), to face Olympique de Marseille, at the Orange Vélodrome. Moreirense, in turn, this Saturday, hosts Gil Vicente, at 11:30 am, at Parque Desportivo Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, for the 30th round of the Portuguese.

At 18 minutes into the first half, Benfica opened the scoring. After a quick counterattack, Kokçu passed to Tiago Gouveia, who returned the ball to the midfielder. The Turkish player, free from marking, finished strongly at the edge of the area, and the opposing goalkeeper accepted it.
Benfica extended their lead in stoppage time of the first half, in the 46th minute. Tomás Araújo took advantage of the surplus and finished, with his left leg, into the back of the net.
Benfica’s third came in the 33rd minute of the second half. Tiago Gouveia passed the ball to Benjamín Rollheiser, who, inside the penalty area, controlled the ball with his chest and shot with his left leg. The ball went through the goalkeeper’s legs and blew up the net.
