The referee of the sixth match of the semi-final series of the Gagarin Cup between Magnitogorsk Metallurg and Ekaterinburg Avtomobilist Ivan Fateev was injured. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
At the end of the second period, Metallurg player Nikita Mikhailis fell at the feet of the referee after making contact with an opponent. Fateev also lost his balance and hit his face on the forward’s skate. Due to a cut, Fateev was unable to continue the game and was replaced by a reserve referee.
The meeting took place earlier on Thursday, April 11. Metallurg won with a score of 5:2 and took the lead in the series – 3-2. In the next game, Magnitogorsk can win a ticket to the final.
In the final, the winner of the confrontation will meet with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. The railway workers defeated Chelyabinsk Traktor with a score of 4-0 in the series.
