Swimmer Yulia Efimova said she plans to apply for neutral status

Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova made a statement about participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in a neutral status. Her words are quoted by Metaratings.

The athlete said that she plans to apply for neutral status, but does not yet see the point in this, since she is not in optimal shape. “You can get status in two weeks, a maximum of a month,” she emphasized.

Efimova is a six-time world champion. She also won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and two silver medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.

On September 4, 2023, the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be able to take part in events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one swimmer. A maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
