Mikel Landa leaves Itzulia after a fall

Mikel Landa (Soudal Quick-Step) has been forced to backing out of the Itzulia Basque Country of 2024this Friday, during the Fifth stagewhen suffering a drop before facing the ascent to Urkiola, the first difficulty of the day. Three other riders were also involved in the fall, who also had to abandon: the Belgian Gil GeldersLanda’s teammate, and the Spanish Gonzalo Serrano and Pelayo Sánchez, from Movistar.
The accident was recorded in Morning94 kilometers from the Amorebieta-Etxano finish line.
Mikel Landa had remained an asset for the general classification of Soudal, after the fall and retirement, this Thursday, of Remco Evenepoel, but the runner from Murgia will not have the option of repeating or even improving the second place obtained in Itzulia in the 2023 edition.
