Andrei Arshavin named Karpin as the only candidate for the post of Spartak coach
Former Russian national team player Andrei Arshavin named the only candidate for the post of head coach of Moscow Spartak. His words are quoted by Bookmaker Rating.
Arshavin said that the coach of the Russian national team and Rostov, Valery Karpin, will handle the position. He added that Spanish specialist Guillermo Abascal will be fired from Spartak at the end of the season.
It was previously reported that the decision to resign Abascal had already been made. Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov, Vladimir Ivich from Krasnodar and Braga coach Arthur Jorge are named as contenders for the post.
Abaskal will head Spartak in the summer of 2022. In the 2022/2023 season, the team led by the Spaniard became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship. After the 21st round of the current national championship, the club is in sixth position.
