Russian figure skater and silver medalist of the Pyeongchang Olympics, Evgenia Medvedeva, reacted to the news of the beating of figure skater Dmitry Solovyov. The athlete spoke in an Instagram story.
Medvedeva, 22, wished the Olympic champion a speedy recovery. She noted that she considers Solovyov a well-mannered and calm person. “Anyone who knows him can confirm this,” she added.
Soloviev fell victim to the attack when he stood up for his companion, the famous curling player Anna Sidorova, two-time European champion. The attackers were detained, and the victim himself was hospitalized with a head injury. Soloviev is in the neurosurgical department of the Botkin Hospital. The moment of the attack was captured by a video surveillance camera.
Soloviev performed in ice dancing with Ekaterina Bobrova. Together they became 2014 Olympic champions and 2018 Olympic silver medalists in team competition.
