Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates) claimed victory at the 2024 Miguel Indurain Grand Prix which was played on Saturday, June 30. The winner He reached the final meters escaping with Maxim van Gils (Lott Dstny) and in the sprint McNulty was the best.

The first breakaway soon formed with a group of seven cyclists. Xabier Mikel Azparren (Q36.5), Bol (Burgos), García Soriano (Arabay), Johansen (Sabgal) Txomin Juaristi (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Leidert (Lidl) and Serrano (Polti) jumped out of the pack, opened the gap and had more than six minutes of advantage. The seven ran many kilometers at the head of the race, although with 100 kilometers to go the leading group remained in a sextet, since García Soriano could not keep up with his breakaway companions. Then, 72 kilometers from the finish line, Serrano gave up.

After a few more kilometers, at the top of Lezaun, the front of the race broke down: first Azparren was left behind and a little later Leider did so. Behind, the peloton accelerated the pace and had the breakaway under control. Little by little, the advantage of the escapees was less and Bol, Johansen and Juaristi were absorbed by the platoon.

After neutralizing the escape, cuts occurred in the platoon, which was reduced. In addition, eight runners were at the head of the race, although the group of favorites did not let them make a way.

The Eraul pass was approached for the last time before the last 10 kilometers. The Russian Pavel Sivakov (UAE Emirates) wanted to make a difference without the rest of the head seeing real danger from it. Ion Izagirre remained crouched for much of the day to gain muscle at the end. Stephen Williams (Israel) also joined the party. While passing through Abarzuza, the American Brandon McNulty brought out his quality to set a great pace eleven seconds apartwhich was increasing.

It seemed everything was in favor of McNultybut the Belgian Maxim Van Gils chose the perfect moment to deliver a blow that seemed definitive on the last climb and put yourself first. In the final line, McNulty regained his position in a brutal sprint to beat Van Gils and thus achieve a very disputed and exciting finale. Edgar Óscar Onley (DSM) was third and Ion Izagirre finished in fourth position.
