Without Messi, Inter Miami is beaten by the NY Red Bulls and loses the MLS lead

This Saturday afternoon, the sixth round of MLS kicked off. Without the injured Lionel Messi, Inter Miami was beaten away from home by the NY Red Bulls, 4-0, at the Red Bull Arena. Lewis Morgan scored a hat-trick and Carmona completed the rout of the home team.

As a result, Inter Miami lost its lead in the competition’s Eastern Conference. With a difference in games compared to the other opponents, the team has ten points, but was overtaken by the Columbus Crew in the tiebreaker criteria. The NY Red Bulls have one game less than Miami, but reached the same 10 points with the triumph and moved up to third place.

The two teams will only return to the pitch next Saturday (23), for the seventh round. At 8:30 pm (Brasilia time), Inter Miami hosts New York City at Lockhart Stadium, while NY Red Bulls visits Orlando City at Orlando City Stadium.

The game

The NY Red Bulls opened the scoring early in the match. After three minutes, Nealis passed to Vanzeir, who pivoted and gave a backheel to Lewis Morgan, who crossed low to score the first goal of the duel.

With 20 minutes, it was Inter Miami’s turn to almost leave everything the same. In a hit and run inside the penalty area, Redondo recovered and passed it to Jordi Alba. However, the Spanish full-back caught the ball poorly and sent it over the goal.

But the one who was in the most danger was the NY Red Bulls. In the 27th minute, Vanzeir received a beautiful pass, but crossed the ball and didn’t hit the goal. Three minutes later, shirt 13 had the chance again after a great throw. He held the ball well and advanced with it, but again shot it wide.

Five minutes into the final stage, the NY Red Bulls increased their advantage. After a bad ball from Inter Miami, the home team recovered. Vanzeir was once again the man with the assist and passed the ball diagonally to Lewis Morgan, who just finished inside the penalty area.

With 21 minutes, Wilkeman Carmona scored the NY Red Bulls’ third. In another error by the Inter Miami defense, Lewis Morgan returned from the left side and passed it to Vanzeir, who managed to play it backwards. Carmona arrived hitting and made it 3-0 for the home team.

And it was in the 25th minute that Lewis Morgan scored his hat-trick and turned the victory into a rout. Vanzeir gained on Allen’s body and run and invaded the penalty area. Shirt number 13 played for the number nine, alone, to complete the ball into the back of the net and make it 4-0.
