The meeting ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the hosts. The only goal was scored by Nikola Knezevic in the 82nd minute.

Before the start of the match, Red Star fans held a rally to support the Russians. They held a performance about Russian-Serbian friendship and also hung a banner “Moscow. 22.03. We mourn.”

Earlier, Zenit explained why they did not cancel the friendly match – they called it a match of memory and unity. “Football unites and saves, so the game will take place and begin with a minute of silence. The teams will play in mourning armbands,” the message noted.
