Euskaraz irakurri: 2024ko Euskal Herriko Itzuliko 6. stage in profila, ibilbidea eta ordutegia: Eibar-Eibar (137.8 km)

He Saturday April 6 disputes the sixth and final stage of the Itzulia Basque Country of 2024, and it is a day that the Euskal Herria fans have highlighted on their agenda, because it is expected to be as decisive as it is spectacular. The phase starts and ends in Eibar and, in his 137.8 kilometersincludes the ascension to seven scoring ports for mountain classification; three of them are 1st categoryspecifically Azurki, Krabelin and Izuaone of 2nd, Gorlaand three from 3rd, Elkorrieta, Trabakua and Urkaregi. In short, it is a day in which the strongest in Itzulia must lead the way.

The organization of the race, in its analysis of this last stage of the 63rd edition of the Itzulia, describes it as “selective from the beginning, and very demanding”, and highlights the importance of the candidates to win the race having a great team, to be able to control what is happening on the road. It is, without a doubt, the queen stage of this edition of the Basque round, the one that can ratify what has been achieved until its dispute, but also the one that can turn the general classification upside down.

At kilometer 13.5, the peloton will cross the banner of the first pass of the day, Elkorrieta, 3rd category. With an average slope of 6.7% and 2.6 kilometers of ascent, it preludes the tough ascent to Azurki, 1st. Azurki has 5.1 kilometers at 7.4%, and is crowned at kilometer 24.9.

The descent to Azurki leads to Azkoitiawhere the ascent to Gorla (2nd). Gorla is long, 9.6 kilometers long, and has an average slope of 5.7%. The Itzulia participants will find the port banner at kilometer 45, and the race will then be in Bergara and in Soraluze.

Almost immediately, the race ascends Krabelin, 1st category. It is a five kilometer pass, with an average of 9.6%, very demanding. It ends at kilometer 70.2 of the stage, which then heads to Markina-Xemein, where the first special sprint of the day takes place; Pay attention, because, depending on the general situation, the bonus seconds that come into play in the Biscayan town can be crucial.

The climb to Trabakuaof 3.3 kilometers at 7.1%, precedes the second special sprint, in Eibar, at kilometer 104.5. Very soon after, it arrives Izuathe last major port of Itzulia in 2024. There are 4.1 kilometers of effort, with an average slope of 9.2%, which could be a sentence, also taking into account the load and fatigue that will be accumulated at that point the runners.

Twelve kilometers before the final point of Itzulia, arrives Urkaregi. It is a five kilometer port, at 4.8%. It is the last mountainous difficulty of the race, which, as if everything mentioned were not enough, has its last three kilometers on a slightly upward slope, until the finish line in Eibar.

Will any cyclist manage to get on the podium in the armored town as successor to Jonas Vingegaard? Will the Dane, for the second consecutive year, be the one who dons the last yellow jersey of the event? Will any Basque runner be crowned the winner of their home race again? Eibar will dispel all doubts, at the end of an Itzulia that will already be history concluded this April 6.
