The ex-wife of the deceased coach Koltsov: I think it was an accident
Yulia Mikhailova, the ex-wife of ex-coach of Salavat Yulaev Konstantin Koltsov, spoke out about his death. Her words are quoted by Belarusian Hockey.
“I think it was an accident. No signs of trouble. Konstantin rented a car for a long time, he paid for purchases that had not yet arrived, then he booked an apartment in another place,” she said. Mikhailova noted that toxicological tests will be ready within a month.
Koltsov died in the United States, which became known on March 19. The police are considering suicide as one of the versions of what happened.
Koltsov is known for his performance in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In Russia, he played for Severstal, Metallurg (Novokuznetsk), Ak Bars, Spartak and Atlant. As part of Salavat Yulaev, Koltsov won the Gagarin Cup, and since 2022 he has been a member of the club’s coaching staff.
