Chernyshenko said that Russians who have received clearance should go to the Olympics
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko assessed the possibility of Russians participating in the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The conditions created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and international federations are such that practically none of our athletes will be able to go there or qualify,” Chernyshenko said. He added that Russians who have received clearance should go to the Olympics if there are no conditions for condemning the SVO or abandoning their homeland.

On March 19, the IOC approved the flag and anthem for neutral athletes from Russia at the Olympic Games. In addition, it was noted that the medals won by Russians and Belarusians will not be displayed in any standings.
Earlier it was reported that Russians and Belarusians would not be allowed to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games. According to IOC estimates, a maximum of 55 athletes from Russia will be able to qualify for the tournament.
Russians and Belarusians will be able to take part in the 2024 Olympics as individual neutral athletes by decision of the International Olympic Committee. However, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will miss the tournament. In addition, there will be no representatives of the two countries’ team sports in Paris.
