Promes, detained in Dubai, supported Spartak before the match with Fakel in the RPL
Legionnaire Quincy Promes addressed Spartak before the match with Fakel in the Russian Premier League (RPL). He posted the story on his Instagram page (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
“Hungry. Come on, Spartak,” the football player supported the club. After 19 matches, the red-whites are fifth in the Russian Championship standings with 31 points.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai Airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine. As a result, he will have to be able to return to Moscow.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
