According to the source, Washington will withhold 50 percent of the national hockey player’s salary. It is noted that Kuznetsov’s contract until the end of next season is $7.8 million.
Kuznetsov was put up for the waiver draft on March 2. On the same day, he completed the NHL Player Assistance Program, which he began a month earlier. The program works with hockey players suffering from psychological problems, as well as alcohol or drug addiction. In 2019, Kuznetsov was disqualified for using cocaine.
Kuznetsov has been playing for Washington since 2014. Together with the club, he won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
