Peskov said that Russian Paralympians still need to compete
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov assessed the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted by TASS.
“Bad bad. Very bad. But you still have to compete and win,” Peskov said.
On March 6, the Russian Paralympic Committee made a statement about the participation of athletes in the Games. They noted that athletes and support staff will not take part in the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition.
On September 29, 2023, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Games in Paris. Individual athletes will be able to take part in the tournament in a neutral status. In 2022, the IPC denied Russian athletes entry to the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. Initially, the Russians were allowed to compete in a neutral status, but then the decision was changed.
