Titov said that the convicted Promes is important for Spartak and he needs help
Former Spartak Moscow midfielder Yegor Titov spoke about the situation with the club’s convicted legionnaire Quincy Promes. His words are reported by Match TV.
“I want Quincy to come back as soon as possible. I hope that not only the Spartak leaders, but also people higher up, and it seems to me that the issue has already reached a completely different level, will be able to help Promes,” he said. The legendary red-and-white player noted that the foreign player is important for the club.
Titov added that he was very frightened by Promes’ problems with the law. “But as a footballer there are no questions for him. I worked with Quincy, participated in the training process with him – he’s a master!” – he concluded.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport due to an accident that occurred in the UAE and leaving the scene of the accident. On March 1, he was released from custody. On March 4, it became known that the football player was placed under house arrest.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the player was involved in transporting a large shipment of cocaine that belonged to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. After the verdict was announced, the football player was put on the international wanted list.
