Duru and Erostarbe, fourth in the Surfing World Cup

Joan Duru and Nadia Erostarbe have been fourth in the Surfing World Cup that has been held in Puero Rico. The Basque surfers of the Basque Team have won a great championship even though they have not been able to achieve medals.
The final of the women’s category was contested by Sally Fitzgibbons, Johanne Defay, Nadia Erostarbe and Tatiana Weston Webb. It was a close final, and finally Fitzgibbons has prevailed with a score of 13.10. Thus, the Australian is the 2024 world champion. The Brazilian Weston Webb was second with 12.24 points and the French Johanne Defay (12.00 points) third. Fourth place went to Nadia Erostarbe with a final score of 9.57.
On the other hand, The finalists in the men’s category were: Gabriel Medina, Kauli Vaast, Ramzi Boukhiam and Joan Duru. In the fight for the title The best has been the Brazilian Medina with a score of 16.40 and has been proclaimed world champion. The Moroccan Boukhiam (15.40 points) was second and the french Vaast (14.33 points) third. Joan Duru was unable to win the medal, but he achieved a creditable fourth placewith a score of 7.10.
The Basque Team surfers have had a great performance in the World Cup. Duru, Erostarbe, Criere and González-Etxabarri have achieved a place for the Olympic Games of 2024.
