Not all Russian skaters competing in the team event at the 2022 Olympics were aware in advance that an appeal was being filed on their behalf to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Match TV became aware of this.

According to the source, not all athletes were consulted before filing an appeal. It is noted that at least two athletes learned about the document after the fact, after its release on the court’s website.

On February 26, CAS registered four appeals regarding the redistribution of team tournament medals. Three of them, with a request to leave the team gold, were sent from Russia – from the Russian Olympic Committee, the Russian Figure Skating Federation and figure skaters Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov. Another appeal is from Canada, demanding that they be awarded bronze.

On January 30, the team tournament medals were redistributed due to the disqualification and cancellation of the results of Valieva, who violated anti-doping rules. The Russian team moved from first to third place, gold went to the USA, silver to Japan.
