Ex-Washington player Neuwirth called Ovechkin the most Americanized Russian
Former Washington Capitals goalkeeper Michal Neuvirth shared his opinion about the Russian club captain Alexander Ovechkin. His words are quoted by “Championship” with reference to Sports.cz.
Neuwirth called Ovechkin the most Americanized Russian of the Russians he played with. “Although he is a great patriot and all that. He is an excellent hockey player with great talent. I take my hat off to his career,” said the ex-goalkeeper of the capital’s club.
Ovechkin ranks second on the list of the best snipers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He has 836 goals scored. The leader is Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894 goals).
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and throughout his overseas career he has played for Washington. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
