During 2023, national production fell by 0.55% and our economy suffered the greatest setback in the last 31 years due to various factors, including the impacts of natural phenomena, such as Cyclone Yaku and El Niño, according to data from the Institute National Statistics and Information Technology (INEI). As is public knowledge, the Government of Dina Boluarte has been delivering a series of bonds that seek to provide economic support to affected citizens.

These subsidies, among which the bonus for artisanal fishermen stands out, of S/700, and the Housing Lease for Emergencies (BAE) bonus, of S/500, have been delivered to their recipients to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis in our country. However, it is necessary for beneficiaries to know the deadline for their collection and for those who have not been able to access these compensations to know the requirements and procedure to access them.

Fisherman’s Bonus of S/700: check the deadline to collect

According to Emergency Decree No. 038-2023, the bonus of S/700 for artisanal fishermen has been paid by the National Fisheries Development Fund (Fondepes). Precisely, last Friday, February 9, the Ministry of Production (Produce) published the expansion of the complementary registry of beneficiaries of this subsidy that incorporates more than 4,000 sea workers to this list.

In order to implement the collection of the S/700 bonus for the 74,500 beneficiaries, Produce reported that it is in coordination with the Banco de la Nación. In this sense, those artisanal fishermen who have not received this subsidy and who are registered in the registry of beneficiaries will be able to access this economic benefit until the February 28 of this year. Requirements to access the S/700 bonus

  • Fishermen must formally engage in artisanal fishing activity, according to the Regulations of the General Fisheries Law, approved by Supreme Decree No. 012-2001-PE.
  • In addition, they must be included in the registry of beneficiaries of artisanal fishermen approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 00424-2023-Produce.
  • They should not benefit from other social programs.

Until when is the S/500 rain bonus paid?

The Housing Leasing for Emergencies (BAE) bonus, better known as the rain bonus, is intended for families whose homes have been declared uninhabitable or destroyed by disasters, especially floods and landslides. This subsidy of S/500 is provided preventively to those who live in areas at risk due to the El Niño phenomenon for a maximum period of two years so that they can rent a home in safer areas.

According to the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, the delivery of the BAE will be completed in “the course of the months of February and March of this year”, based on what is stipulated in the official schedule coordinated with the municipalities. In total, 13,200 victims of Cyclone Yaku and the El Niño phenomenon are beneficiaries of this financial subsidy. It is worth mentioning that, to date, 5,000 of these bonds have been delivered and the almost 8,000 remaining will be attended to in the next month.

What documents must be submitted?

  • The application for granting the Housing Rental Bonus for Emergencies (BAE).
  • The sworn declaration of not having housing other than the collapsed or uninhabitable one located in the department of origin.
  • The rental contract for the home signed with the owner and signatures legalized before the justice of the peace or notary public.

What other bonuses continue to be paid in 2024?

In addition to the S/700 bonus for artisanal fishermen and the S/500 bonus for those affected by rain or disasters, the Government has also been providing the following economic subsidies:

  • Bonus for teachers of S/380: This bonus arises as a result of the 2023-2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was signed between the Ministry of Education (Minedu) and the Unitary Union of Education Workers of Peru (Sutep). In that sense, financial aid of S/380 has been planned that will be delivered exceptionally in the first quarter of 2024, although the specific details for its distribution are still unknown.
  • Breastfeeding bonus of S/820: This subsidy is a Social Health Security benefit that is given to the mother of the newborn of a insured person and seeks to contribute to the care of the baby. The amount is equivalent to S/820, but in the case of multiple births, the subsidy is granted for each child.
