Kunlun players had their Chinese passports revoked for missing selection for the 2026 Olympics
More than ten players of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club Kunlun Red Star had their Chinese passports revoked. Sport Express learned about this.
The documents were declared invalid due to the fact that the athletes missed the qualifying matches for the 2026 Olympic Games. We are talking about hockey players who were not born in China and received citizenship after they began playing for Kunlun.
The Chinese team lost its chance to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games. In the qualifying matches, which took place from February 8 to 11, the team crushingly lost to Great Britain (1:10) and Romania (1:6), and also defeated Serbia (7:5).
The 2026 Olympic Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Earlier it became known that players from the National Hockey League (NHL) would take part in the tournament.
