A football player convicted in the Netherlands brought victory to Spartak

Spartak defeated Kairat and won the RPL Winter Cup, Promes scored a double

Striker Quincy Promes, convicted in the Netherlands, brought victory to Spartak Moscow in the final match of the Winter Cup of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The results are available on the tournament website.

The meeting against Kazakhstan’s Kairat took place in Abu Dhabi (UAE) at the Al Nahyan Stadium and ended with a score of 6:0 in favor of the red and white. As part of the winners, Promes scored a double, scoring goals in the 62nd and 82nd minutes. Spartak became the winner of the RPL Winter Cup.

Earlier on February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the forward was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel.

Promes returned to Spartak on February 25, 2021. Before that, he played for the red and white from 2014 to 2018, becoming the champion of Russia and the winner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
