The FHR stated that the IIHF applies double standards when it comes to admitting Russians
The Russian Hockey Federation (RFH) made accusations against the International Hockey Federation (IIHF). This is reported on the organization’s website.
The FHR stated that the IIHF applies double standards when it comes to admitting Russians. They considered the argument that it was unsafe to compete with Russian teams to be unreasonable, since teams from countries involved in armed conflicts continue to participate in international tournaments.
On February 13, the IIHF extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarus national teams. The reason was current security risks. The head of the IIHF clarified that the issue of the participation of the Russian team in the Olympic Games will be resolved in February-March 2025.
Russia was first suspended in February 2022. The country was also deprived of the right to host the World Cup in 2023 and the world youth championship.
