Odebo chose the Main Port over the Peruvian city of Ayacucho.

The Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo), in its general assembly held this Saturday, chose Guayaquil as the host city of the XX Bolivarian Games, to be held in 2025. The Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) together with the Mayor’s Office of Guayaquil proposed the Main Port as a candidate to organize this international contest with the aim of having a championship of this nature again for the first time since 1965.

“In a historic year for Ecuadorian sports, this news motivates us even more! A lot of teamwork ahead, together we will achieve it. We are ready ”, wrote the Minister of Sports, Sebastián Palacios, on his Twitter account.

He also thanked the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, for the support given to Ecuadorian sports. While in his speech he declared: “This is a milestone for the country, a legacy that he leaves for future generations and he does in different areas: in sports, because our youth tricolor are dreaming of leaving all their effort in those Games and going up to the top of the Bolivarian podium. It also does it in the economic sphere since, with sporting events, we are also able to inject resources ”.

Guayaquil prevailed in the voting against the Peruvian city of Ayacucho.

Once the venue has been chosen, Odebo will designate a Monitoring Commission for the census of scenarios and other advances for the sports fair, which will happen to the Games that will be held in Valledupar next year, in the north of Colombia.

Among the topics with which Guayaquil was presented as a candidate city to organize the 2025 Bolivarian Games are its culture, history, gastronomy, as well as his sporting ability. (D)
