The Poles started this year’s edition of the World Cup very badly. Apart from Kamil Stoch, practically all jumpers fail to a greater or lesser extent. The competition in Engelberg, in which our representatives like to jump, was to be an opportunity to break. However, that was not the case.
Another weak Polish competition. The rival departed in the Nations Cup classification
Saturday’s competition was another bad performance by the Poles. Andrzej Stękała jumped 121 meters and took 35th place, and Jakub Wolny (44th place 118 meters) Paweł Wąsek (45th place, 116 meters) and Dawid Kubacki (48th place, 111 meters) finished the competition at the very end of the field. The only one who qualified for the second round was Kamil Stoch, seventh after the first round (133.5 meters). This, however, is not surprising, because the Pole is definitely the best in the team of Michał Doleżal from the beginning of the season.
Stoch confirmed his good form in the second series and finished sixth (133.5 meters in the second series). In the face of the terrible attitude of the rest of the jumpers, the Poles scored further losses in the Nations Cup 2021/2022 classification. Although we managed to maintain the sixth place in the classification, the loss to the top five is huge. The Swiss, who had as many as four representatives in the second series, made up for the losses.
The Germans remained in the first place. The leader of the World Cup and the winner of Saturday’s competition, Karl Geiger, took the highest place. Also on the podium, where the Austrians and the Norwegians maintained their positions, remained unchanged. The latter have to look back, however, as their advantage over the increasingly better jumping Slovenes is only 24 points.
The Nations Cup 2021/2022 classification after Saturday’s World Cup competition in Engleberg:
- Germany – 1609 points
- Austria – 1343
- Norway – 1229
- Slovenia – 1205
- Japan – 962
- Poland – 551
- Switzerland – 370
- Russia – 254
- Finland – 17
- Estonia – 13
- Bulgaria – 6
- Canada – 1
- Italy – 1
