RUSADA will strengthen anti-doping work with skaters after the Kamila Valieva case
RUSADA will strengthen its preventive work on violations of anti-doping rules with skaters and their staff after the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva. A representative of the organization’s press service reported this to TASS.
“In figure skating, despite the fact that it is not a risky sport, violations of anti-doping rules periodically occur, and this is not only the use of substances prohibited in sports, but also falsification,” RUSADA said.
Earlier, RUSADA spoke about the continuation of the investigation into Valieva’s case. They stated that they would monitor how the athlete served her disqualification.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. Then traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in her sample.
