Čeferin said he will not be re-elected as UEFA president in 2027
The President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Aleksander Čeferin, spoke about his future in office. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Ceferin said that he will not be re-elected as head of UEFA. “I decided six months ago that I would not seek another term after 2027. I have already been away from my family for the past seven years and will be for another three,” he said.
At the same time, on February 8, the UEFA Congress voted for amendments to the charter, according to which Čeferin’s first term was no longer considered full. This allows him to stand for election and be elected to a fourth term until 2031.
On April 5, 2023, Čeferin was re-elected as UEFA President. The Slovenian was the only candidate for the position.
Ceferin has headed UEFA since September 2016. In February 2019, he was already re-elected to this post.
