Boxer Povetkin: Usik does not understand that he is a Russian person

Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin spoke about the nationality of the owner of championship belts in four prestigious versions of Ukrainian Alexander Usik. His words are quoted by Match TV.

“Maybe he doesn’t understand it himself, but he is a Russian person. They themselves don’t understand this, they have been fooled,” Povetkin said, adding that in the upcoming fight between Usik and the Briton Tyson Fury, he will root for the representative of Ukraine.

The fight between the Briton and the Ukrainian is scheduled for February 17. The fight will take place in Riyadh.

Usik has 21 victories in 21 fights in the professional ring. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts. Fury has 33 wins, one draw and no losses. He holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship belt.
