Boris Becker names Sinner favorite in Australian Open final against Medvedev
Former world number one Boris Becker called out the vulnerability of Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev in the 2024 Australian Open final. His words are quoted by Eurosport.
The athlete felt that the domestic tennis player spent too much playing time on the court at the tournament, unlike Italian Jannik Sinner, who beat Serbian Novak Djokovic in four sets in the semifinals of the Australian Open. He noted that Medvedev spent more than 20 hours on the court, so he called Sinner the favorite.
On January 26, Medvedev reached the final of the Australian Open 2024, where he will play Sinner. In the semi-finals, the Russian beat German Alexander Zverev in five sets with a score of 5:7, 3:6, 7:6, 7:6, 6:3. Sinner turned out to be stronger than Djokovic at the same stage of the tournament with a score of 6:1, 6:2, 6:7 (6:8), 6:3.
Medvedev is the third racket in the world. He has one Grand Slam title to his name and won the US Open in 2021.
