The 21st round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) will be postponed due to the presidential elections. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the league’s press service.

“Changes to the calendar will be adopted based on the results of the in-person league meeting,” the message says. As part of the 21st round, which was supposed to take place from March 15 to 17, a Moscow derby is planned between Spartak and CSKA.

After 18 rounds, Krasnodar is in the lead in the Russian Championship with 38 points. Zenit is in second place, two points behind. The top three are completed by Dynamo (32 points). The tournament will resume in early March.

The Russian presidential elections will be held from March 15 to 17. Following the results of the nomination stage, the Central Election Commission accepted documents from 11 candidates.
