Valuev called WADA thieves and said that it was unreasonable to pay them large fees
State Duma deputy, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev called the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) thieves. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Valuev said that it is unreasonable for Russia to pay large fees to WADA, and therefore it is necessary to act legally and go to court. “They are thieves and will never admit it,” the deputy considered.
On November 17, 2023, it became known that Russia and Belarus had not paid their mandatory contributions to WADA in 2023. Russia’s contribution was supposed to be 1.267 million dollars, Belarus – 46 thousand dollars.
On September 22, WADA said that the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) had not met the requirements to restore its status, since its code was not integrated into national legislation. It was noted that the Russian side can appeal this within 21 days from the date of receipt of the official notification.
