Dzyuba criticized FIFA for recognizing Messi as player of the year

Dzyuba called the recognition of Lionel Messi as FIFA player of the year a lawlessness

Lokomotiv forward Artem Dzyuba appreciated the recognition of Argentine Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi as player of the year according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). His commentary is available on the railway workers’ YouTube channel.

Dzyuba called the choice in favor of Messi a lawlessness beyond his understanding. “They gave me the last one for the World Championship – okay. What next? For what [форвард «Манчестер Сити» Эрлинг] Haaland scored, won the Champions League? All prizes lose their significance,” the footballer noted critically.

On January 15, FIFA named Messi the best player of the year for the fourth time. At the same time, the Argentine was absent from the award ceremony because he did not want to miss training.

36-year-old Messi joined the American Inter Miami squad on July 15, 2023. Together with the team he won the League Cup.
