Tutberidze’s daughter Diana Davis spoke about nerves at the European Championships
Former Russian figure skater Diana Davis, who together with Gleb Smolkin represents Georgia in ice dancing, shared her emotions from her performance at the 2024 European Championships. Her words are quoted by Sports.ru.
According to the athlete, she is more nervous than before. “Despite the fact that we have experience in large international tournaments – we were at both the European Championships and the Olympics – now it feels like we are starting from scratch,” the figure skater said. After rhythm dance at the continental championship, Georgian representatives took seventh place.
Davis, the daughter of the honored coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze, and Smolkin, the son of actor Boris Smolkin, have been representing Georgia since the 2023/2024 season. The change of citizenship was approved by the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation on May 5 last year.
Davis and Smolkin made their debuts in the senior Russian national team in the 2021/2022 season. They finished eighth at the European Championships and took 14th place at the Beijing Olympics. Athletes living in the USA missed the 2022/2023 season.
