Euskaltel-Euskadi adds James Fouché to its staff
He Euskaltel-Euskadi announced this Thursday the signing of James Fouchethus completing a squad of 21 cyclists for the 2024 season that is about to begin.
Fouche (1998, Christchurch, New Zealand) reinforces the block of rollers and classicomaniacs of the Basque formation. He is a 1.86 cyclist who knows what it is to win in professionals and who comes from Bolton (2021-2023) with whom he has competed in a European calendar of tours and classics. Last year he won the GP Cerami and the Mountain in the Tour of Britain and the Tour Poitou Charentes. His achievements also include double New Zealand Championship and the Oceania Championship in 2022. Previously, he raced for Team Wiggins (2018-2019).
His signing is the eighth of the Euskaltel-Euskadi for 2024, to add to those of Jon Aberasturi, Nicolás Alustiza, Iker Bonillo, Xavier Cañellas, Victor de la Parte, Iker Mintegi and Unai Zubeldia. “A competitive, balanced squad, with that mix of experience and youth that we like and that we hope will give us a lot of joy this year,” highlights Jorge Azanza, sports manager of the orange team.
The entire squad, except Fouché, is concentrated at the Hotel Cap Negret in Altea, Alicante, until January 18, before starting the season in the one-day tests Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969 (1.1) and Ruta de la Cerámica ( 1.1), on January 20 and 21, respectively (see calendar). Fouché, for his part, will compete in the New Zealand Championships in early February before traveling to Europe to meet his new teammates.
