Rodnina refused to consider the Russian figure skating school the best in the world
Three-time Olympic champion and now State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina assessed the level of the Russian figure skating school. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
Rodnina refused to consider the Russian figure skating school the best in the world. “If you don’t praise yourself, no one will, that’s understandable. The Russian school is really very strong. But I wouldn’t say that she’s the best. In some places it is better, in others it is worse. Moreover, our whole life develops along a curve – up and down,” she shared.
Earlier, Rodnina ridiculed the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix. She called the competition a housing office championship.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, skaters were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as other international tournaments.
