It was hard to pinpoint the favorite, but after qualifying at the track, Yas Marina seemed to be the Dutchman who had an amazing time and took pole position. However, at the very beginning of the race he lost his position and allowed himself to be overtaken by Hamilton. The situation looked like this until the last lap of the race, when in quite controversial circumstances he overtook the Briton and won his first championship in his career.
