Constitution Commission approves opinion on tax powers, excluding changes to the mining regime

With 13 votes in favor, 1 against and 2 in abstention, the Constitutional Commission of the Congress of the Republic approved the prediction that grants powers to the Executive Power so that it can legislate on tax, fiscal, financial and economic reactivation matters.

The ruling now only grants 90 days for the Government to legislate on the requested matters, despite the fact that 120 days had been requested.

In this way, the Executive would not be allowed to make changes to the mining tax regime; raise the income tax (IR) for those who earn more than S / 300,000 a year; or make adjustments to the rental tax or capital income.

Nor could the Government improve or simplify tax policy for smaller companies, or establish mechanisms to collect the tax on digital platforms.
