In June 2022, Ecuadorian winger Joao Rojas was unveiled as a new signing for Mexico’s Monterrey, after reaching an agreement for his transfer with Emelec.

However, the tricolor did not benefit from his stay in the striped team because he had an injury that kept him away from the field for several months.

After his recovery, Rojas lacked regularity and performed very little, for which he was heavily criticized by the Aztec press.

However, José Antonio Noriega, the president of the striped team, confirmed that the Ecuadorian will not continue at the club.

“Joao Rojas and Jonathan González spoke to them and were told that the intention is not to continue with the team,” the Monterrey owner told a press conference.

“We are looking at the alternatives they may have and are working accordingly. “Joao’s departure makes room for receiving players in any position on the field,” added Noriega. (D)
