The continuity of the power outage will be assessed in the first week of January, announced the Minister of Energy and Mining, Andrea Arrobo, this Wednesday morning, December 27, in a radio interview in Quito.
“That – will there be a blackout – is a question that I think is worth evaluating in the first week of January, depending on how we finish managing the reservoirs,” said the minister.
Ecuador’s blackouts could continue in 2024 if resources are not allocated to address the energy crisis, according to former ministers and teachers
Arrobo found that there is an optimal management and increase in the accumulations of the main hydropower plants. The announcement comes amid a “truce” in power outages after the minister on Tuesday, December 19, announced the suspension of rationing until January 1, 2024.
Regarding the tender to which he invited domestic and foreign offshore energy supply companies, Arrobo indicated that this week “we have completed the analysis through the delegated management that Celec EP has” to get the best cost and the shortest time to provide emergency assistance .in months which follow.
