The founder of the ACA league Khasiev said that sport should unite and not sow discord
The founder of the ACA league, Mairbek Khasiev, spoke about the incident at the tournament when Tajik fans threw bottles at the Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Mikhail Mokhnatkin. His statement was obtained by Lenta.ru.
Khasiev said that sport is not an interethnic confrontation. “The task of ill-wishers is to sow interethnic discord, and thereby resolve their personal issues! We are far from politics, but this does not mean that we are blind and do not see how some are trying to use sports for their own purposes!” – he emphasized.
The ACA founder added that sport should unite. “And, if at home we are of different nationalities, then at ACA tournaments our nationality is MMA,” Khasiev concluded.
On December 25, Mokhnatkin was pelted with bottles after a fight at the ACA 168 tournament in Moscow. The athlete lost ahead of schedule to Faridun Odilov from Tajikistan. After this, spectators threw several bottles towards the 33-year-old Russian and his seconds.
Mokhnatkin has 15 wins with five defeats and two draws. Odilov has 17 wins, two losses and two draws.
