Seon-gyun Lee is dead. A Korean actor was found unconscious in a car in a district of Seoul. His life could not be saved.

Seon-gyun Lee was only 48 years old. On December 27, in the morning, the actor’s wife notified the services that the man had left the house and left something that looked like a farewell letter. Just a few minutes after the call, the police located Seon-gyun Lee’s car.

The actor was found unconscious in the car. His life could not be saved. He has been going through difficult times in recent days – he was threatened with charges related to the consumption of banned substances. He was interrogated several times before Christmas, but the case dragged on for two months. Seon-gyun Lee allegedly consumed psychoactive substances banned in South Korea (marijuana and psychotropic substances). He was banned from leaving the country.

Seon-gyun Lee was a popular Korean actor who appeared in numerous film and television productions. The film “”, which won an Oscar and the Palme d’Or in Cannes, received the greatest attention. Seon-gyun Lee played the head of a wealthy family – his chauffeur was the main character of the production.

Seon-gyun Lee had problems with the law

He was tested several times for the presence of drugs in his body and was interrogated many times – the police tried to find the sellers from whom he obtained the goods. Ultimately, he admitted to taking drugs four times – he explained the fifth case by “mistaking sleeping pills.”

I snorted them through a wad into my nose, but I thought they were sleeping pills. I didn’t know they were drugs, Seon-gyun Lee explained in a statement just 24 hours before his death.

South Korea has a very restrictive anti-drug law, which – as you can see – is not always a deterrent. Imprisonment threatens not only sellers or producers, but also citizens who use it – even if they do it outside the country. Nowadays popular prescription drugs such as Xanax and Valium are not allowed to be brought into Korea (even with written medical certification).
