Ukrainian Tsurenko said that Russians should watch the 2024 Games on TV
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko spoke about the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by Sportowe Fakty.
Tsurenko condemned the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). “I support that Ukraine will send the strongest team in history to the Olympics, and Russians and Belarusians will watch the competition on TV,” she said. In her opinion, Russians should boycott the tournament as a sign of solidarity with their compatriots who were not admitted.
On December 8, in Ukraine they talked about a possible boycott of the 2024 Games after the admission of Russians and Belarusians. At the same time, the acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny denied this statement.
Earlier, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Games in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
