Sony recognized the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation VR console as obsolete gadgets
Sony will stop servicing users of the previous generation advanced console at the end of 2023. The authors of the Siliconera blog drew attention to this.
From December 20, 2023, the corporation’s service centers in Japan will no longer accept the PlayStation 4 Pro console for repairs. Apparently, this practice will spread throughout the world. Thus, the device will be considered obsolete. Additionally, support for the PlayStation VR virtual reality headset will end.
The company clarified that a number of users who do not have time to submit a request for device service before the end of the year will be able to seek help until January 5. After this period, any support for gadgets will be discontinued.
Company representatives said that the devices were considered obsolete due to a lack of components. Sony has not produced or sold the mentioned consoles and accessories for a long time.
PS4 Pro, an advanced version of the PlayStation 4 Pro console, appeared on the market in November 2016. The original PlayStation VR headset was released in October 2016.
At the end of December, Sony talked about 50 million copies of the PlayStation 5 sold. According to journalists from The Verge, at one time Sony sold the 50 millionth PlayStation 4 console just one week faster.
