English match between Burnley and Watford is postponed by covid-19 spurt

The 17th round of the Premier League has another game postponed. Burnley and Watford, who would take the field at 4:30 pm (GMT) on Wednesday, was canceled due to an outbreak of covid-19 in the Watford squad.

“The decision was made following the advice of medical consultants due to an outbreak of covid-19. The club has an insufficient number of players available to play the game”, wrote the club in an official statement.

Both teams are in a delicate situation at the tournament table. Burnley, 18th with 11 points, has not won for five rounds (four draws and one defeat). Watford, just above with 13 added, is coming off a win and four losses.

The duels between Tottenham and Brighton, which would take place on Sunday, and Manchester United and Aston Villa, scheduled for this Thursday, also had to be postponed for the same cause.
