Director Rubashko said that due to the busyness of Russians, Sochi was headed by a foreigner
Sochi General Director Dmitry Rubashko explained the appointment of Spaniard Robert Moreno to the post of head coach of the club. His words are reported by Sport Express.
“In principle, we understood that we would look for a foreign coach. Those Russian specialists who hired us are already busy and have a place to work. Therefore, we looked at the foreign market,” said Rubashko, refusing to disclose the details of the contract with Moreno.
Moreno joined Sochi on December 15. Previously, he worked on the coaching staff of the Spanish national team from July 2018 and headed it from March to November 2019. The 46-year-old specialist’s last place of work was the Spanish Granada, which he left in March 2022.
Sochi is the worst team in the Russian Premier League (RPL) and is in last 16th place in the standings. In 18 matches before the winter break, the team scored 11 points.
