Although the production remains extremely popular to this day, only a few people know that the story presented on screen was based on . The prototype of the main character was Lechosław Uciński from the village of Brzezie. – I would say that 90% of what viewers saw is the honest truth, one to one – in the “Świat i Głos” magazine. How did his life come to inspire filmmakers? It all started when he started studying at an evening technical school in Łódź. It was then that his essay on “My way to school” caught the attention of a Polish teacher, Henryk Czarnecki, who was a good friend of Chmielewski. He decided that it should be adapted into a film, so he introduced the student to the director, and from there things progressed naturally.

Uciński participated in every stage of the series’ creation: first he told the creators about his life, making corrections to the script, and later he cooperated with Krzysztof Stroiński, who created his character in front of the camera. – He watched me closely. We talked a lot, I can say that we became friends, he said later. It turns out that the hero’s sympathies in the series also really existed. Who were Bronka and Ania?

The characters of “Far from the Road” really existed. The fate of the series Bronka ended tragically

Bronka’s TV series was Krystyna, Uciński’s first love. However, fate had a different plan for them. One day, when the man was returning from work in Sosnowiec, he met three girls at the bus stop: Wiesia, whom he already knew, and two of her friends, Zosia and Ania Bełdycka, with whom he fell head over heels in love. Their feeling blossomed throughout the summer and survived even when she returned to Łódź, where she studied every day. Despite his initial fears, Lechosław told Krystyna about his new crush and ended the relationship with her. The girl did not despair for long and soon became engaged to another young man. Two days before the wedding, on their way to the rectory, the newlyweds had a motorcycle accident, which ended tragically for her. – She suffered spinal cord damage. She used a wheelchair until the end of her life – Leszek recalled with regret.

At that time, Uciński made up for years of education by studying with his younger sister, and then moved in with his beloved in Łódź, where he studied at an automotive technical school. In the meantime, he married Ania and welcomed his firstborn son into the world. However, the first years of his marriage were not kind to him, all because of his overzealous mother-in-law. When they finally moved in on their own, they began to feel disturbed by the terrible conditions in the house. Only after the man’s promotion did they return to Łódź and then buy an apartment in Bielsko-Biała, where their second son was born. They led a happy life, although marked by illness, because Ania struggled with multiple sclerosis, from which she died in 2014.
