The presidents of the Baltic countries called on the IOC to reconsider the admission of Russians to the Olympic Games 2024

The presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia made an appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the Russians. This was reported by TASS with reference to the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

The heads of the Baltic countries decided that Russian athletes should not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Lithuanian President Gitanas NausÄ—da called the IOC decision disappointing and expressed hope that it could be reconsidered. The head of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevich, allowed a boycott of the Games if the IOC does not change its position on this issue.

On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games.

The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
