CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev said that he is against comparisons with Yashin and Dasaev
CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev appreciated the statement of army team president Evgeny Giner that the footballer surpassed goalkeepers Rinat Dasaev and Lev Yashin. His words are quoted by “Championship”.
“Personally, I am against such comparisons, especially with our great goalkeepers,” said Akinfeev. He emphasized that he has always looked up to great goalkeepers, but does not consider it fair to compare himself with them.
Giner made a statement on December 6. “I have all the respect for Yashin, Dasaev and others, but, in my opinion, Igor has already set all the records: clean sheets, number of matches, etc., etc.,” said the president of the Moscow club.
37-year-old Akinfeev has played for CSKA throughout his career. Together with the capital club, he won the Russian Championship six times, the national Cup and Super Cup seven times. In addition, as part of the army team, Akinfeev won the UEFA Cup.
