State Duma deputy Irina Rodina said that she likes her job
Three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina assessed her satisfaction from working in the State Duma. Sport24 reports this.
“Now I am engaged in my social and political activities. I like my job, I help people and work for the good of the country,” Rodnina said. The deputy also answered positively when asked about her political ambitions.
On November 16, Rodnina responded to the criticism of Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova against athletes working in the State Duma. “Why do they think that an athlete will give less to the country than an ordinary politician? Tell me your specific complaint. We work for the good of the country!” Rodnina said.
Rodnina won gold in pair skating at the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Games. She is also a ten-time world champion. Since 2007, the athlete has been a State Duma deputy.
